This sweet couple are no strangers behind my lens and I LOVE it! They value memories in these sweet seasons of life and did I mention Andrea is also a photographer? So…you know we had a million ideas between the two of us! It makes a shoot more fun when couples roll with fun ideas and have a few of their own. They trust me to bring it all to life ….even down to the styling. It’s my jam.

So…here we are. Detroit for the day and it did not disappoint! We had been holding out for snow, but as my fellow Michganders know….we didn’t get any in December so there’s that. ha We heard there might be a dusting and time was running out on how long this Christmas tree lot was going to be up and running so we made our way to the D.

Who knew Detroit has been holding out on letting the rest of us know that it is SO CUTE! They have so many little nooks that were perfect for photos and it really brought the Hygge!! I would love to go back just to relax and enjoy all of the fun aspects the city as to offer in the winter!

Derek and Andrea are so in love. They have cute little nicknames for each other and they laugh easily together. Derek takes care of Andrea and even drove us down as our driver complete with a power cord to edit if need be. He pulled out road snacks and drinks from a cooler for us…I can’t even. Just the absolute sweetest. Something my Micah would do…acts of service husbands FTW!

Andrea thought of every detail for Derek and the shoot. The right colors and textures and all.the.things. You would have laughed at how many hats we each brought…just in case. Andrea knows what she likes, but also trusts my judgment. Her smile lights up when Derek says something funny and you know we all love her hair…oh, yeah…she’s also my hair stylist!!! I know! So Good!

What I love most about these shoots is not the details ( I know.), but the connection. Of course! I focus in on that right away. It’s my favorite and what I want my couples to remember more than outfits or the perfect hat. I promise you will look back at these memories when you are old and grey and see the laughter and love, playfulness and real connection more than anything else…besides…we always look back on styling and think..really? Not matter how great it is when we take that photo! ha
